Last Friday we brought our daughter to the hospital for checkup. However since the line is too long we went ahead and got her CBC checked at the laboratory first. We were horrified at the result: her blood platelet has gone down, it was 143 and normal is supposed to be 150 – 470. We decide to have her admitted and we rushed back to the hospital. The following turn of events was disheartening. It took us a while to wait until my daughter’s nosebleed, the hospital wants us to go back to the lab for another CBC check and we will have to go back to the end of the line after the checkup. The hospital is not allowing admission unless the platelet count is below 100. We were so dismayed.
We rush to another hospital. There’s no way we will avail of the service of government hospitals again, ever. At the hospital, Zuriel was not the only victim of this epidemic. Most parents of these little victims have some remedies to help raise the number of platelets and on to road of fast recovery.
My husband and I asked our old folks as well as some parents of dengue victims for remedies. My husband had come up with few and we believe these are the most efficient ones. Here they are:
- 3 or 4 Young papaya leaves blended with ½ cup of water. Extract the leaves and give the patient 1 teaspoon every hour.
- ¼ of Magic balls dissolved in a bottle of Gatorade. Make as substitute for water.
- Tawa-tawa roots boiled in water. Also as substitute to water. Alternate with Gatorade/magic balls solution.
- Durian shake is believed to increase blood regeneration. 1 to 3 spoons of this should be taken after taking the papaya extract.
